Khan Academy is available for Android, iOS, and online, and it’s available for free for your elementary, middle, and high school students. They’ll earn tickets to “purchase” virtual items, such as new little fishies for the classroom. Your little ones can try it for 30 days free and then pay $13 per month for your kid’s education on the road. You can’t put a price on that. Download the ABCMouse mobile app on your smartphone or tablet, or use ABCMouse.com online. This app will give your kids a confidence boost as they complete fun steps toward progress. Their journey starts with a placement test for your child to be placed into one of five learning programs. (If you’ve heard of Mathseeds, this is one of the programs on this educational app.) Download the Reading Eggs app for $10 per month for up to four children, and there’s a nice 30-day trial to see if your homeschooler likes it before you commit. Download it through the Apple Store or Google Play, or access it online. With Reading Eggs, you can plan a personalized curriculum for self-paced learning. Your kids (grades 1–8) will feel like they’re playing a video game while simultaneously learning! They’ll rack up rewards while answering math questions and can work themselves up to level 100. The Prodigy math app is available for iOS, Android, and online for free. There’s a premium membership option for $10 per month or $75 per year that will unlock more in-game content, like treasure chests and 100+ pets. The available plans for SplashLearn are not clear, but what we can tell you is that they range from $5–$12 per month, and there’s a family plan that allows access to three of your kids. Similar to Prodigy Math, your kids will feel like they’re playing a video game while exploring new worlds and befriending magical creatures. They’ll play games, use practice sheets, read guided storybooks, and access hundreds of bedtime stories. SplashLearn is available on iOS, Android, and online. Your 2–8-year-olds will learn the locaions of US states, state shapes, capitals, abbreviations, flags, and historical facts.
