VPNs for ad-blocking Sitting between OPPO’s affordable A-series and its flagship Find X5 lineup, the new Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G promise to deliver design and performance that’s a little closer to the latter while keeping things as affordable as possible. Out of the box, the Reno8 5G is armed with a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of on-board storage and a 4500mAh battery. The Reno8 Pro 5G ups the ante with a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX processor, but otherwise and boasts the same storage and memory specs. The Reno8 Pro is also slightly larger, with a 6.7-inch screen relative to the 6.4-inch one on the standard Reno8. For the most part though, the two have more in common than apart. Both devices boast a streamlined design, a fingerprint-resilient gradient finish, AMOLED screens with a 120Hz refresh rate and 80W fast-charging (via USB Type-C) that OPPO claims will allow the handsets to go from a flat charge to 50% in just ten minutes. There’s also plenty of shared DNA when it comes to the camera layout across the two devices. The Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G each come kitted out with a triple-lens rear camera and a single-lens shooter designed for selfies. The former is billed around a sizable 50MP main lens plus an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro one. The latter is 32MP, and housed within a dot-style notch. The Reno 8 Pro further builds on this foundation with the same MariSilicon image processing tech found in the OPPO Find X5 and Find X5 Pro. As with the aforementioned flagship devices, this inclusion promises to significantly improve and augment low light performance when it comes to camera on the device. If nothing else, it’ll be interesting to see how much an impact the Find X5 series’ headline enhancement makes in a mid-range device like this one. The OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G is slightly more expensive at an RRP of $1,199. It comes in two different color options: Glazed Green and Glazed Black. The above two new devices join the OPPO Reno8 Lite 5G, which launched back in June and is priced at $599. While the OPPO Reno8 5G Pro is only available through JB Hi-Fi for now, the standard model is available through a number of Australian retailers.
